1965 Porsche 356C Coupe
Of the 76,313 Porsche 356's built over 18 years, this car falls in the last 300 built by Porsche. These late model 356's were the best of the production. Refined with disc brakes, great steering and the best transmissions ever installed in the 356 cars, they were by far the best to drive. It was bought new in 1965 by Andy Anderson of Ukiah, California and remained with him until the current owner got the car. It's a matching numbers car and it's painted in the original special order Togo Brown paint.
The new owner painstakingly approached a restoration of the Togo Brown 356 with the intent of long term ownership. Brian Gutierrez (worked with Jim Gordon for 20 years) stripped the car to bare metal and replaced the floors and battery box. Once the cosmetics where completed, the car was delivered to Jack Staggs for a complete reassembly. Brakes, suspension and steering were all addressed. New paint and plating was given to all the appropriate parts and no expense was spared. Once this was complete, the interior was done by Auto's International. All the chrome was redone and the result is a beautiful, excellent driving 356. The restoration was completed in 2016.
During the process, the owner nicknamed the car “Brown Betty”. She's a lovely example of a 356 that's ready to enjoy and fine-tuning done by Jack Staggs, really makes this 356 a joy to drive and to view.
