According to the Porsche Kardex this 356SC was completed on February 20, 1964, imported by Hoffman Motors in New York, New York, and sold to the first owner in Manhattan Beach, California. This is a California 356, owned by only four owners. Originally delivered from the factory in Light Ivory with a Black interior.
Currently finished in Signal Red, the paintwork is in great condition with a beautiful Black interior, recently the front seats have been reupholstered with leather faces, new dash cover, door panels, and German square weave carpets have been installed. The original steering wheel has also been refinished since the photos were taken and is complemented by deluxe chrome horn ring, VDO instrumentation, a dash-mounted clock and front fog lights.
European Collectibles has done the following work including a top-end engine rebuild installing new pistons and cylinders, rebuilt cylinder heads with new valves and guides, new push rods, and a gasket set. During the engine out service a new clutch, pressure plate and throughout bearing was installed, and all the steel metal was powder coated. Recently serviced with fresh oil, oil filter, fuel filter, adjusting the carburetors, and the engine has been tuned. Truly a pleasure to drive with plenty of power, smooth shifting transmission and the braking system has been gone through! Its top speed is 125+ mph.
The undercarriage has been completely detailed as well, the floor pans and suspension components were stripped to steel, German undershoot was applied to the undercarriage and the suspension was professionally detailed.
Mechanically this 356SC runs amazing with a 1600cc matching engine no. 811451 (Type 616/16), producing 107 bhp @ 5200rpm and 91 ft lbs of torque @ 4200rpm paired with a 4-speed manual transmission (Type 741) and four-wheel disc brake system. Complete with comprehensive service records documenting work done from 1970 through 2023, by the last four owners. The 356SC is the end of the 356 era and is one of the best 356s to drive.
